The ‘Optimising Outcomes in Neonatal Care’ CPD accredited study visit, which took place on 29th and 30th November, welcomed 28 neonatal healthcare professionals from the UK, Ireland, Germany and Hungary to Armstrong Medical’s facilities in Coleraine for an educational and peer learning event that discussed pertinent issues in neonatal care.

The busy agenda included sessions with esteemed guest speakers, meeting the faces behind production with a factory tour and an engaging series of practical workshops focusing on neonatal transportation from our partner, MedCare Visions, a simulation from the NeoSim Team from the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Belfast and heated resus to nCPAP transfer from Emma McClure, our Neonatal Product Specialist.

Chief Commercial Officer – Respiratory, Andi Regan-Murphy, extended a warm welcome to the attendees:

"We are delighted to offer this educational opportunity to a specialised group of neonatal healthcare professionals who are dedicated to supporting their tiny patients and their families. The invaluable insights shared by our guest speakers, comprising of topics like ‘Delivery Room Stabilisation,' ‘Intraventricular Haemorrhage Prevention in Extreme Preterm Infants,' ‘Optimal Cord Management,' ‘Transport of Newborns and Neonates,' and an ‘Introduction to NeoSim, human factors affecting neonatal care, jaundice and risks for exchange transfusion,' enriched the experience for our guests.

We are really proud of our factory tour, which gives visitors a chance to meet our production staff and see how our respiratory medical equipment, devices and consumables are made. We've found that peer learning among our event attendees is very beneficial, and we want to continue having this close relationship with our customers. Thank you to everyone involved for making this another successful study event."

Speakers, Dr Katie Hunt, Consultant Neonatologist, George Brooks, professor and former Neonatal Nurse Consultant, Dr Aishin Lok, Consultant Neonatologist, Eberhard Schneider, founder of MedCare Visions and the NeoSim Team, a multi-professional clinical education team, shared their expertise and knowledge and led engaging discussions.

Collaborating closely with end users of respiratory products for Neonatal Care remains a core focus for Armstrong Medical, and customer visits are an integral part of this partnership. The next CPD study event, planned for March, will delve into Critical Care, discussing delirium in ICU, wellbeing initiatives for critical care staff, and respiratory failure with practical simulation.
