Armstrong Medical Ltd has joined the University of Ulster’s Professional Experience Programme, as part of the University’s ‘Learning for Life’ initiative to enhance employability of Graduates entering the job market.

The Professional Experience Programme is highly competitive, with only 35 internships available across a number of disciplines. As part of their experience, Graduates will complete a Certificate in Professional Practice run by the University of Ulster. Throughout their six month internship Graduates will work within a department of the organisation relating to their degree discipline.

Alice Mooney, a Bsc Hons Business Studies graduate from the University of Ulster, joined Armstrong Medical Ltd in September 2013 as a Marketing and Business Development Intern.

Helen Canning, HR Assistant stated:

This is the first year that Armstrong Medical Ltd has taken part in the University of Ulster’s Professional Experience Programme. Armstrong Medical Ltd recognises the difficulties faced by new Graduates in the job market and are committed to investing in the local community and the future of business in Northern Ireland.

Alice will spend her first month shadowing employees from different departments within Armstrong Medical Ltd to gain an understanding of the processes required to get our products to the end user. This will provide Alice with knowledge of our product range and the stages required in producing a high quality product. This will assist Alice when she starts with the Marketing and Business Development teams.

Graduate Intern Alice Mooney stated:

The University’s Graduate Internship is a great opportunity to experience a busy business environment and apply theory learnt within University in a practical way. I am looking forward to the challenges of the next six months and the experience I will gain from such an innovative, forward thinking company in an exciting market.
