Armstrong Medical Ltd is delighted to announce the creation of two new jobs in their Precision Engineering Department.

Worldwide exporter, Armstrong Medical Ltd has made a significant investment in the establishment of a Precision Engineering Department by creating new jobs and implementing new technology.

Armstrong Medical Ltd currently employs 114 staff in their Coleraine factory which manufactures and supplies high quality, innovative respiratory disposables for anaesthesia and critical care, both domestically and in 52 countries worldwide.

The Precision Engineering Department specialises in mould manufacturing and product design. It provides Armstrong Medical with the capabilities to:

  • produce new injection moulds for plastic parts
  • manufacture precision fixtures
  • repair injection moulds for medical and operating instruments
  • create technical documentation and 3D models
  • create prototypes and develop new products for the medical industry
  • transform highly complicated product design into a precision-finished product.

Dr. Ciarán Magee, Technical Sales Director at Armstrong Medical Ltd explained:

We continue to develop an advanced engineering infrastructure to support our Research & Development programme and our manufacturing capabilities in thermoplastic injection moulding, tubing extrusion and liquid silicone moulding.

We have recently completed a round of recruitment in specialist engineering disciplines to aid the development of our tool room facility that supports the manufacturing functions. In addition to the normal skill sets required in precision tool making, we have expertise now in wire erosion and electrical discharge machining (spark erosion). This facet has greatly enhanced our ability to manufacture injection moulds internally and to provide ongoing engineering support for the moulding operations.

Vertical integration of the key elements of research and development, design and manufacture will make us more competitive in export markets and better placed to respond quickly to clinical demands and to new clinical concepts.
